Former Pakistan cricket captain Rameez Raja has termed Misbah-ul-Haq as "Dhoni of the poor" and said that Pakistan's head coach should adopt "modern thinking" to guide the team.
Rameez Raja further said that Misbah goes to a very defensive position when Pakistan loses the match. |
The Indian newspaper Hindustan Times quoted Rameez Raja as saying in an interview given to the YouTube channel called Cricketer that according to Rameez, 'Misbah has a mild temperament like Indian captain Dhoni, but he needs to play himself. Change according to modern requirements.
Rameez also said about Misbah, "His upbringing and training is different. Dhoni is also not very sociable. His facial expressions do not reveal his inner feelings, Misbah is like that, but now he should follow modern thinking.
Rameez Raja further said that Misbah goes to a very defensive position when Pakistan loses the match.
"Misbah will have to take a new path. He must set the right GPS for the Pakistani team because aggression is part of our DNA."
According to Rameez Raja, Pakistan should also appoint a chief executive to look after technical and selection matters related to cricket.
"The time has come for Pakistan to stop relying on foreign coaches," he said.
"In the past, we needed foreign coaches because we were new to the field then, but now we have moved on," he said.
Opposing the appointment of permanent coaches, he said, "There should be coaches for the tours and series. There is no need for permanent coaches."
He advised that "coaches and their expert opinion should be used on the occasion of the event and move forward instead of going along for a long time."
